HANJI TREE

Have you heard about 'Hanji Paintings?' I paint pictures on Hanji with watercolor, india ink and colorful Hanji by shredding, cutting and gluing pieces together. Instead of using paint and brush over paper, I sometimes create images with colored Hanji only. My Hanji paintings have a wide range of expressions using the soft yet strong characteristics of Hanji. To make soft and subtle feelings like water color painting, I apply thinly spread Hanji pieces on naturally dyed big piece of Hanji. When I wish to have thick, strong and elegant feeling like oil painting, I use thick spread Hanji pieces and apply them in several layers.
